The reason is because they might have it on their breath when the get on the bus or go to class. They have the children wash their hands upon arrival (that's a lot of kids) because they might have it on their hands. And to make matters worse they are banning students in some schools from bringing other things now, too, like cheese, milk, or anything that has milk derivatives in it (including soy cheese which has caesin.) So my children already can't have wheat, oats, gluten, modified food starch and many other things because of their own dietary needs, but I also couldn't give them anything with milk in it and anything with nuts in it...and anything with eggs or apples or?????? Where would it end? I agree, homeschool your child if you're that afraid of an allergy. This was discovered at a football game when he was playing with peanut SHELLS and almost landed in the hospital. Cancer, homicide, and suicide far surpass this. Take the proper precautions by getting a diagnosis and informing school administrators and staff. But don't waste time and money by trying to ensure that the school is "sterile" just for your kid.
